In A Single Stroke - One Dream

The concept for Around the World in a Single Stroke ENSO 2007 emerged from the moon's reflection on the glass tabletop of my studio. Surrounding the silken celestial curves, I saw the deepening shadows of midnight clouds full of inked possibilities. Nestled in last Winter's Solstice, ONE idea was set spinning into motion. What if I could re-imagine the ENSO for the 21st century? What if I could take ONE painting of ONE single stroke in ONE continuous journey Around the World? What if I could choose any 12 Masters of Time and Space to join me on this once-in-many-lifetimes journey? What if I could?

Riding on the brilliant sunrays of the Summer Solstice, 12 extraordinary honorees joined the circle ONE by ONE. Each saw something unique in the ENSO. Each brought their own perspective from years of mastering their own disciplines—Each from their own creative worlds—technology, music, sports, oenology, fashion, cuisine, theatre, art, academia, and finance.

As this Winter Solstice approaches — Join me for 12 Sumi-e Stopovers where we'll meet with each of the 12 honorees. Connecting us with the New Year, the exciting journey culminates with a surprise reveal of "Honoree 12" Master of Time for 2007.
